What are Dental Veneers?
Dental Veneer is a thin shell of laminate bonded to a tooth's front surface to improve shape, color, and size. It usually involves removing a small amount of tooth structure to prepare where the veneer will be bonded. Some people may get only one veneer in the case of a broken or chipped tooth, but most of the time, six to eight veneers are placed to improve aesthetics.
Types of Dental Veneers
There are different types of dental veneers, depending on material and placement.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain Veneers are the most common type of dental veneers. It is extremely durable, can mimic the natural appearance of your teeth, and won't stain or discolor after some time. It is usually fabricated in the laboratory and is bonded to your teeth after a few days.
Resin Veneers
Another type of dental veneer is Resin Veneers, also known as Composite Veneers. This type of dental veneer can be made chairside in a single visit. You can walk out the same day with a new smile. However, composite veneers are not as durable as porcelain veneers and they are more susceptible to chipping and staining.

Process of Placing Dental Veneers
Step 1: Initial Consultation and Assessment
Your first step to starting a smile makeover with Veneers is to book a consultation with Dr. Dan or Dr. Mila Cohen. It usually involves examining your teeth, taking radiographs, and 3D scans of your teeth to have an overall picture of your dental health. This is also the perfect time to ask questions and discuss your smile goals and any concerns you might have. Our dentists will ensure you are a part of the decision-making, and we are always here to listen.
Step 2: Preparation and Mock-up
Once you have agreed with the treatment presented to you by our dentists, we will prepare your teeth by removing minimal tooth structure to allow space for the veneers to be bonded. Then we will create a mock-up of your smile with temporary restorations, which you'll wear for up to three weeks. These will also provide a preview of your final veneers, and you are free to comment on any changes you want to make on your final veneers.
Step 3: Final Cementation
It will take a couple weeks for our master ceramist to handcraft custom-make Porcelain Veneers for you. Once done, our dentists will remove your temporary veneers and we'll bond your final veneers to your teeth permanently.
How Long Veneers Will Last
Porcelain Veneers can last for 10-15 years and often longer when properly cared for. They are durable and stain-resistant, so you don't have to worry about discoloration.
